The system records clear and reliable sound from up to 400 meters (1312 feet) away via a small, clip-on omnidirectional microphone (capturing sound from all directions), and simultaneously acts as a backup recorder to ensure a worry-free recording experience.
The compact receiver can be mounted directly onto a DSLR camera or connected to a USB-C port on a smartphone or laptop. With a simple initial setup, you can start recording professional-quality audio in just seconds.
High-quality sound with flexibility in the editing stage
The integrated receiver connects to the camera via a 3.5mm TRS port using the included cable, and can also be connected to compatible mobile devices via the included USB-C adapter . The system supports Timecode input and output for improved audio-video synchronization.
The system embeds timecode data into internal recording files, streamlining the editing process. It also offers dual recording, saving both the original version and an enhanced version with algorithms for improved quality. Furthermore, the system supports 32-bit float recording and lossless audio mode, providing greater control and precision in audio file processing.
Intelligent gain control (Adaptive Gain Control)
You can switch between two different modes for automatic volume control during recording.
- Automatic Mode: Prevents sound distortion caused by sudden increases in levels, and is ideal in situations where loud or intermittent sounds are expected.
- Dynamic Mode: Adjusts the gain level in response to changes in sound intensity to maintain sound balance and stability, making it suitable for environments with expected and stable sound levels.
Preset audio settings and two levels of noise cancellation
You can further customize the sound quality with three preset sound modes:
- Regular: Gives you a natural and balanced sound for everyday use.
- Rich: Adds depth and warmth to the sound, ideal for interviews or podcasts.
- Bright: Enhances the clarity of high tones for purer details.
The system also offers two levels of noise cancellation :
- Basic level: Reduces continuous low noises such as the sound of fans or air conditioners.
- Strong level: Designed for noisy environments, it significantly reduces ambient noise for cleaner, clearer recordings.
Smooth and easy-to-use control
The 1.1-inch AMOLED display and control wheel on the receiver allow you to easily adjust and view settings such as gain level, battery status, and operating mode. You can also use the DJI Mimo app for more precise settings adjustments and easier system and firmware updates.
Flexible channel settings
Like traditional wireless systems, the DJI Mic 3 receiver allows you to choose between mono or stereo recording mode.
What distinguishes this system from its predecessor is the expansion of your audio environment :
- In Quadraphonic mode, the receiver, in conjunction with certain Sony cameras and computer software, and with a separately available camera adapter , can output four audio tracks to provide greater flexibility in mixing and editing.
- Although the system includes only one transmitter and one receiver , the receiver can support up to four transmitters at the same time .
- Audio can also be synchronized with up to seven additional receivers to create a near-infinite wireless network, a useful feature for group interviews or productions using multiple cameras.
Dual-band wireless and Bluetooth connectivity
The DJI Mic 3 system supports dual-band wireless connectivity with automatic switching between 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz frequencies at a range of up to 400 meters (1312 feet) . It also integrates Bluetooth 5.4 for direct connection to mobile devices. The transmitter unit can connect directly to the DJI Osmo 360 , Osmo Action 5 Pro , Osmo Action 4 , or Osmo Action 3 without the need for a receiver.
Long battery life
The internal batteries in both the receiver and transmitter units keep the system active throughout the day. Power-saving features such as automatic sleep mode , automatic power-off , and use while charging further extend battery life.
